Facebook to change its layout and presentation

with 5 comments

Today, Facebook released a sneak preview of some proposed changes to the site’s layout and overall presentation. The reason for the sneak preview and their soliciting of feedback is primarily due to the fact that the last time around, Facebook got a whole lot of negative press from its users when the site updated its interface and page functions.

In a nutshell the proposed changes are:

  1. A sleeker Profile page, including fewer links under the profile picture
  2. A briefer Mini-Feed
  3. Messages and shares will be found in one inbox, and you reply to shares instead of commenting on them
  4. Message can be sent to several people at once, and they can reply to everyone on the thread (sort of like a “reply to all” button on your email)
  5. Each network will have their own page, which shows events happening at the network

Below are three screenshots that illustrate some of the new changes:

  5. I hate it – why did they make it so ugly and military looking? It doesn’t look at all friendly anymore.
