Trek Background

What the Trek is all about:

In the past year I attended the Seattle Trek and since I am working for the GAMP program, I have organized an additional Trek to New York City in September. Now, I am working on next year’s Seattle Trek, assisting with the Portland Trek, and organizing the San Francisco and Silicon Valley Treks. I though it was about time I give you some background on what the Trek actually is:

The GAMP Treks to Seattle, Washington (past 7 years) and Portland, Oregon (past 6 years), as well as New York City (first annual occurred in September 2007) bring highly motivated and qualified Gonzaga students to areas of strong alumni representation, as well as areas of key strategic interest to the University.

The Seattle Trek is significantly expanding this academic year in an attempt to give a greater number of students and employers more valuable exposure. These proposed changes are going to greatly enhance the Trek experience of students and employers by increasing the levels of relevance and interaction between participants. Instead of the customary three excursions tracks, visiting two individual companies each, students will now have the opportunity to choose from 7 simultaneous excursions tracks, visiting two companies each. This will greatly reduce the number of people attending each excursion, giving students the chance to interact more closely with their hosts while enabling companies to spend quality time with our most qualified students.

In addition to the customary excursion program, students will also attend a networking social, keynote presentation, and career fair with over 35 area employers.
